This is the funniest thing I’ve seen on YouTube in a long time. I busted my gut hardcore and was brought to tears. Maybe it’s because I’m tired and hot, but oh man.

This came up on Digg and I can’t help mentioning some of the coolness and a few “no way that was 1987″ moments. I’m talking about the Virtual Apple 2 (http://www.virtualapple.org). This website has 100’s of old computer games many of which striked up several memories of old friends, events and computer game related frustrations. Granted I played nearly all these games in their DOS versions. The feeling was the same. Like there was a lump of nostalgia induced puke at the bottom of my throat. And that puke is playable in your web browser.

Let’s review some highlights of the collection. King’s Quest 1-4, Space Quest 1-2 (no 3 damnit), Gold Rush, Police Quest, California Games, Mixed Up Mother Goose, World Games, Battle Chess, and a shout-out for my older brother Fast Break and The Last Ninja (seriously The Last Ninja). Among a whole crapload more.

Unfortunately the joystick emulation is a bit funky and it requires IE (irony?). Do I really have the attention span the actually play one of these games for more then 5 minutes, maybe not, but it is still cool the check out the memories, as painful as some of them are.

Maybe now I won’t get laughed at so much because Dr. Mario is fricking impossible. Revolution for those with color sight deficiency!

In hindsight, eventhough I can’t tell the difference between green and red turtle shells I can still pwn most of you at MArio Kart.

I just realized this post is a little late. PI should celebrated at 1:59 today. Why today? 22/7=3.14. I’m not making PI Day up either.

I tried it myself. It hurt.

Charlie posted a bunch stuff he did in Flash on audiogate. I began to laugh rather hardily during a piece called Mess. Particularly when you hit the switch and the “mess” appears. Out of guilt (although, it’s seriously nothing to be offended by) I have posted some of my Flash achievements for all to experience. Without furthur ado I gave you Kurt Kneller’s ¡FLaSHXoRS!

Burger Surfer-

Burger Surfer was a piece that was directly inspired by Søren Kierkegaard’s Existentialist teachings and ideas. One must either allow the Burgersurfer to dodge the approaching mustard and ketchup bottles or not. Failing to dodge the bottles leads the death of the Burgersurfer. This brings up the ethical dilemma, “do I dodge the bottles to ensure the life of the Burgersurfer” or “do I kill the Burgersurfer by intentionally driving him into the bottles suduced by the power of god I have been given?” The choice is yours. Lack of a “restart” button adds to the finality of the player’s decision.

BS2 is a comment on faith versus evolution and morality. In this piece the player assumes the hand of God. Again some degree of ethics and morality is placed in the player’s power. Should the player allow the Burgersurfer to continue living? By doing so the player is giving the Burgersurfer permission to continue living in sin with a directionless fancy. Should the player kill the Burgersurfer? Doing so will stop the Burgersurfer’s destructive behavior, but make the next Burgersurfer stronger, more elusive if they choose to continue creating life by going to the next level. Is it better to allow weak sin to live or to fight sin, possibly making it stronger? You will have to evaluate it yourself if you are strong enough to tackle this game.
